Taj Burrow is one of the most exciting and innovative surfers ever. He’s also a legendary showman, ladies man and all-round genuine Aussie bloke. His book is as much an insight into the man as it is a technical guide to high-performance surfing.
Split into a series of logical chapters the book clearly sets out a diverse range of surfing manoeuvres. For each level of surfer, manoeuvres are detailed with step-by-step instructions, alongside sequences of Taj making it look easy. Interspersed throughout are the often funny and nearly always helpful TB TIPs and cool stories, both surfing and life related.
We recommend reading whilst watching sick DVDs like Montaj and Fair Bits.
The good
- Taj-speak. It’s in his own language.
- Cool pics and sequences.
- Down-to-earth.
- Cool design with transparent pages containing drawings by Taj over pictures of him surfing, highlighting what could be done better.
The not so good
- Some descriptions of manoeuvres get quite technical and may be difficult for an average guy to visualise. But hey, it’s still inspirational right?
Rating
As good as a night on the town with Paris Hilton
