Fact: Most surfers on one wave

Some of you urban dwellers might think that the most surfers ever on one wave was down at your local the last time the swell looked clean – but you’re (probably) wrong. I know Manly beach in Sydney last weekend looked a promising candidate for this award.

But on a happy note, the most people to ever surf on one wave happened in good spirits at the Earthwave beach festival in Muizenberg, Cape Town on October 04, 2009. Legendary South African surfer and festival founder Paul Botha said, “We estimated that there were more than 120 surfers on the fifth of the seven waves surfed at Muizenberg during Earthwave.”

Now that is quite a fact about surfing.
