Wired Magazine have been testing out a WaveJet 9′ carbon-fibre mal equipped with dual battery-powered water jets to give you an extra boost. Apparently the jets put out a max speed of 12mph and you can use this propulsion both for paddling and whilst (trying to) manoeuvre out on the face.
However… when the technology progresses to allow jet-powered shortboards I might just change my mind. Hmmm, the Rasta Formula Energy board (from Castles in the Sky) cruising at 20 kilometres per hour sounds pretty sweet to me.
