The Cold, the Wave, the Quiet

This is not the biggest wave.

Or the most consistent for that matter.

This is not where reporters gather to write the latest piece on Norway´s ever growing coldwater surfing scene, or where surf schools have come to set up base.

This is one of those other places off of Norway´s rugged coastline that lays wide open to the unpredictable conditions of the Atlantic Ocean. This is where Bahamian surfer Blake Sands has settled down. Far from the blazing sun and the perfect conditions of the Caribbean, he has made a life for himself here among thick neoprene, cold winter swells and sometimes empty line ups.

It is not always perfect.

Not always what you want it to be, when you want it to be.

But always interesting. .

This is the lo-fi version of the hit song that is playing on repeat on the radio, only that it is performed quietly at the campfire among your closest friends. I think the name of the song is “

And for us who live here, there is no greater song.
