Surf parks have come a long way—but what Infinity Wave Co. is doing feels like a whole new era.
At the heart of their innovation is the Dynamic Reef—a patented moving floor that reshapes in real-time to create everything from gentle beginner peelers to deep, rideable barrels. This means wave types can shift throughout a session, matching the needs of surfers across every level. It’s not just about producing waves—it’s about crafting real surf experiences.
The company’s first project, Ilhas de Atibaia, is set to launch just outside São Paulo and promises more than just a wave pool. With a skate park, wakeboarding, adventure zones, and a hotel, it’s shaping up to be a full-blown destination for action sports lovers and ocean-minded families.
We caught up with the team at Infinity Wave Co. to learn more about the tech, the thinking, and the future behind this ambitious new approach to surfing.

What sparked the idea for Infinity Wave Co.?
Infinity Wave Co. was born from a real-world need. Our founding team—comprising engineers and water sports enthusiasts—recognized a gap in the market for efficient and versatile artificial wave technologies. The breakthrough came when we envisioned a new concept of bathymetry—a system capable of creating waves for everyone. That vision became the foundation of Infinity Wave Co.
The Dynamic Reef sounds like a big leap forward. Can you explain how it works in simple terms, and what makes it different?
Think of the Dynamic Reef as a new concept of bathymetry for surf pools. Traditional systems rely on fixed bottoms, but our patented moving floor technology allows us to change the slope and depth of the pool between waves or sessions, not during the wave itself. Imagine a sandbank that reshapes over time—our reef adjusts instantly based on our commands. This shift in bathymetry directly influences the wave’s breaking intensity, enabling us to generate everything from smooth, rolling waves to powerful, barreling tubes—all in the same pool.
Can someone really go from smooth peelers to barreling tubes in a single session?
Yes—our system allows for progressive adjustments between wave sets, gradually increasing the session’s difficulty level. We can even create distinct sections within a single wave by designing intentional irregularities in the reef. Surfers can enjoy floater sections, air ramps, or deep barrels all in one ride. The possibilities are now truly infinite.
Your system can produce up to 1,200 waves an hour—how do you maintain that volume without compromising quality?
Naturally, wave quantity is directly related to size and complexity. For smaller, beginner-friendly waves, we can produce endless sets with consistent quality. For larger, barreling waves, the output decreases—just like in the ocean. Wave turbulence impacts the timing and cleanliness of subsequent sets.
Tell us about your partnership with Ian Gouveia.
Ian Gouveia is the official ambassador of the wave pool at the Ilhas de Atibaia project. On the project’s side, he brings his expertise and authority in surfing to reinforce our commitment to performance and quality. His involvement adds credibility to both Infinity Wave Co. and the Ilhas de Atibaia development.
What can surfers expect at Ilhas de Atibaia, and how does it reflect your vision?
Ilhas de Atibaia is a next-generation surf park located just 50 km from São Paulo. It is a multi-ownership development that will feature a hotel, our wave pool, a skate park designed by Sandro Dias, a wakeboard cable park, adventure zones, and more. Their goal is to create a full-spectrum experience that blends action sports, nature, and sustainability. It brings our vision of accessible, high-performance surfing to life.
How does your system manage energy use and environmental impact?
Sustainability is embedded in our design. We use high-efficiency electrical resistors and recover energy during each wave cycle, storing it for reuse. Our system is also compatible with solar and wind energy sources. By optimizing both mechanical and electronic systems, we minimize energy and water consumption compared to traditional wave technologies.
What’s next for Infinity Wave Co.?
We’re currently in discussions for multiple new locations in Brazil and abroad. Our mission is to democratize access to high-quality surfing experiences.
If you had to sum up Infinity Wave Co. in three words, what would they be?
Accessible. Adaptive. Authentic.
Accessible because we want surfing to be for everyone. Adaptive because our technology responds to each surfer’s needs. Authentic because we aim to recreate the soul of real surfing in a pool environment.
