Destination: Teahupo’o, Tahiti

Renowned for its remarkable wave riding, Teahupo’o, a village on the southwestern coast of Tahiti in the southern Pacific Ocean, is often graced with 6 to 10 feet, and sometimes even 23 feet, glassy offshore waves. The wave’s unique form, caused by an extremely shallow coral reef, creates a hollow-breaking wave, adding to Teahupo’o’s surfing allure.
