The Kelly Slater Surf Ranch is about to open its doors to people outside of the Slater inner circle. But there’s a catch. You need to be a very lucky boy or girl, because entry is limited to two.
Mr Kelly Slater has announced a competition through which you buy entries in return for your stab at a golden ticket. His favourite book is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and so now the king gets to wear another hat. A top hat, Willy Wonka style.
What would you do to ride those alternating brown and blue walls at the surf ranch? To slip in and out and in of a perfect little cylinder for hours on end. To get your entries you simply choose a contribution level over on Omaze and choose a reward for your participation.
For $100 you’ll get a limited edition t-shirt and 1000 entries. For $50,000 you’ll get VIP access to the Pipe Masters and accommodation at Turtle Bay. This is in addition to half a million entries. If you’re willing to splash 50k then you might as well just buy shares in the surf ranch.
But what money can’t buy is a weekend of surfing with Kelly, bonfires on the beach, jam sessions and happy times with the cool crew. Whether there will be Oompa Loompas, we’re yet to discover.
